The first week back from break is over and it’s time to buckle down. Try out some of these local events to keep yourself out of that second-semester slump.

  • Art Spiegelman will discuss “MetaMaus: A Look Inside a Modern Classic,” his Pullitzer Prize-winning graphic novel, at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the District o Columbia Jewish Community Center. Tickets cost $20, members pay $15.
  • The National Portrait Gallery will host a happy hour and a collection-inspired trivia night at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow. Admission is free.

And here’s something humbling:
Police in Silver Spring, Md. pulled over a man dressed as Batman.
