Profile on Style

Profile on Style is a weekly post that explores the motivations behind GW’s fashion trends. We’ll show you the most interesting aspects of GW style, and then try to make some sense of it all. Keep your eyes open for a reporter and photographer walking around because you might become the latest trendsetter.

This post was written by Hatchet reporter Samantha Hatton.

When the weather gets warmer, coordinating outerwear is replaced by coordinating accessories. Here are a few examples of how students have successfully pulled together outfits.

Annie Aberle. Carly Lisnow | Hatchet Photographer

Name: Annie Aberle
From: Los Angeles, Calif.
Year: 2015
Major: Business
Inspired by: Rachel Zoe
Outfit: Jeans, Rag & Bone; shirt, Black Label Boutique; bag, Coach

Annie Aberle brought her L.A.-style to Kogan Plaza on one of the warmest days of the semester with her floral tank top from Black Label Boutique. The floral print is of course perfect for spring, but what we really loved was how well she coordinated her Coach bag into the outfit. The same deep pink color of the bag is present all throughout the shirt’s print, making the purse a perfect fit for the breezy ensemble.

Tealye Long. Carly Lisnow | Hatchet Photographer

Name: Tealye Long
Hometown: Coopersburg, Penn.
Year: 2015
Major: Undecided
Inspired by: Rhianna
Outfit: Romper, J.Crew; shoes, Target; bag, Ralph Lauren

The romper is a fun, comfortable addition to any casual spring wardrobe. We found Tealye Long wearing a plain black romper from J.Crew. She coordinated leopard print accessories, including her shoes and Ralph Lauren bag, to add some energy to her look. Long threw in a touch of glam with her gold necklace, which was a gift from her grandmother. When coordinating jewelry with leopard print, gold is extremely complimentary of the brown, black and yellow tones.

Morgan Mathiesen. Carly Lisnow | Hatchet Photographer

Name: Morgan Mathiesen
Hometown: New York, N.Y.
Year: 2015
Major: Undecided
Inspired by: Carrie Bradshaw’s style in “Sex and the City”
Outfit: Jeggings, Adriano Goldschmied (AG); flats, J.Crew; ring, Jeanine Payer; bag, Urban Outfitters

Morgan Mathiesen wore grey jeggings with a black belt, black flats and a simple black tee with button details. Her messenger-style bag from Urban Outfitters coordinated perfectly with its black trim, and the cream fabric of the bag brightened up Mathiesen’s look. We loved her studded metallic bangles, which added a touch of edginess without throwing off the feel of the whole ensemble. Morgan also wore a ring from Jeanine Payer, whose jewelry is always engraved with poetry.
