Men’s swimming senior captain Marshall Seedorff qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials over the weekend after swimming a 50-meter freestyle in 23.46 seconds at Princeton University.

The trials will take place June 25 to July 2, in Omaha, Neb. As a competitor, Seedorff will look to make the U.S. men’s swimming team and compete in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. USA Swimming calls the Olympic Team Trials “one of the fastest, exciting, suspenseful and pressure-filled competitions held in the United States every four years.”

“The whole team is very excited for Marshall,” head coach Dan Rhinehart said. “It is an exciting opportunity and I know he is thrilled to be going.”

Seedorff last took to the pool with the Colonials in February to compete in the 2012 A-10 tournament. There, he joined with teammates to put up a season-best time in the 200-yard medley relay and finished in fourth in the 50-yard freestyle.
