The Student Association vice president of student activities has been selected as the new student liaison for Gelman Library.
Aria Varasteh, a senior, will serve as a direct source for students on Gelman concerns and will likely play a large role in advocating for student during the building’s renovation process.
The advisory board designed to act as a link between administrators and students has been operating without a leader since Jenny Wiley left her role about two weeks ago.
Sources inside the library said Wiley – who held the position for two years – opted to pursue a job with the national nonprofit Heritage Preservation after receiving a degree in museum studies last spring.
Other library administrators were temporarily filling Wiley’s role as facilitator in the ongoing planning process for the much-anticipated Gelman renovations.
Varasteh declined to speak about his new post until he officially assumes the role.
