The Washington Post wrote a story Sunday about the perks and downfalls SMPA professor Mike Shanahan faces in sharing his name with another Mike Shanahan.

The other Mike Shanahan finds himself pulling for the Redskins’ coach,” quotes Shanahan on the perks of having the same name as the coach of the Redskins.

“You know, I was benefiting there for a while. My whole persona was on a roll. But now that the team’s shambolic, falling apart, what’s going to happen to my reputation?” Shanahan, also a member of The Hatchet’s Board of Directors, told The Post.

Having received numerous calls from Redskins fans with coaching advice, Shanahan said he is still supportive of the team’s coach and hopes he leads the team to success.
