Ryan Freeburg has been named the assistant coach for the volleyball program, recently hired head coach Amanda Ault announced Thursday. Freeburg will replace Doug English, who resigned in March to accept a coaching position at the University of Delaware.

Freeburg spent the past year as a volunteer assistant coach for the Purdue University volleyball program. He served as team manager for three seasons prior to that. He has also worked as the club director for the Lafayette Volleyball Academy since 2009.

A 2010 graduate of Purdue, Freeburg was the starting outside attacker on the Purdue men’s club team that finished 11th in the Division II segment of the 2009 NCCS Collegiate Club Volleyball Championships in Kansas City, MO.

The Colonials concluded their 2010 season with a 17-15 overall record, 6-9 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
