Pedestrian struck by car on H Street

A car struck a male student near Gelman Library just before 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to eyewitness accounts, the second incident of a pedestrian hit by a car on H Street in two days.

“A student walked out between parked cars around H and 22nd streets and was struck by an automobile,” University spokeswoman Michelle Sherrard said in an e-mail Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses at the scene said the┬ástudent was hit by the car’s side view mirror. University Police and an EMeRG ambulance responded, but Sherrard said the student wasn’t hurt and refused medical treatment.

Tuesday morning a female student was struck by a car after crossing H Street outside of a crosswalk. Her injuries were serious but not life-threatening, and she was expected to be released from the hospital that day.
