Pumariega, Kircher sweep A-10 golf honors

Men’s golf junior Andres Pumariega and freshman Benton Kircher were honored as the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week and Rookie of the Week Monday.

Pumariega’s honor came after he took first place at the George Washington Invitational Saturday, becoming the first Colonial to win a 54-hole tournament since 2005. As the reigning A-10 Performer of the Week, Pumariega parred 36 holes and recorded 10 birdies during the tournament.

Kircher placed 18th out of 51 participants at the Invitational, marking his first collegiate top-20 finish. He averaged 4.83 strokes on all par 5 holes.

Up next for Pumariega, Kircher and the Colonials is a trip to Philadelphia for the Penn Quaker Invitational Monday, April 4, at 8:15 a.m.
