Fire alarm evacuates Ivory Tower

Updated 11:11 p.m.

A fire alarm evacuated Ivory Tower at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, after a sprinkler went off in a loading dock, a University spokeswoman confirmed.

University spokeswoman Michelle Sherrard said shortly after 11 p.m. that a water pipe burst in a loading dock, prompting the sprinkler activation. University Police Chief Kevin Hay said the pipe was repaired and water pressure was restored.

A UPD mobile command van and a small truck responded to the scene.
