What we’re watching: Hatchet movie picks

Hatchet reporter Jennie Krems shares her latest flicks.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010)

The “Harry Potter” books and movies have defined our generation. As the characters have grown since the release of the first book, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,”  in 1997, so has an entire generation.  “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” came out a few days ago and I made sure to be at the midnight showing.  This “Harry Potter” film was the best to date.  As the characters have matured, the themes of the films have too.

This film stayed closely to J.K. Rowling’s book, which made “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” stand out from the rest of the Harry Potter films.  There was a good balance of drama, action, humor and romantic moments.  In this film the main characters, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson), are looking for Voldemort’s horcruxes to finally defeat the dark lord. There were many picturesque camera shots of the English countryside.  From the opening scene with the “Death Eaters” to the final moments with the house elf Dobby, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.  “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” left the audience wanting more and for that we will have to wait…until July 2011 (PG-13, 2:27).
