Hogan earns bid to NCAA Championship next weekend

Senior women’s cross-country runner Megan Hogan finished third Sunday at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship in State College, Pa., qualifying her for the NCAA Championship meet next Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind.

The Colonials senior completed the 6K course in 19:58, 38 seconds faster than her time on the same course earlier this season.

Hogan, who set a course record and won her second consecutive Atlantic 10 Individual Championship last weekend, was also named the A-10 Cross-Country Student-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Her appearance at the NCAA Championship meet next weekend will be Hogan’s third straight. She was the first-ever GW runner to advance to the national championships when she made it there in 2008. Last season she finished 27th out of 255 competitors and became the first-ever Colonials runner to be named an All-American.
