Sexual assault reported in Thurston Hall

Updated 9:15 p.m.

University police are investigating an alleged sexual assault that allegedly occurred in Thurston residence hall Thursday.

The Safety and Security Alert released Sunday said the assualt in the freshman residence hall was committed by an acquaintance and was reported to UPD Sunday.

The Hatchet asked University Police Chief Kevin Hay if a description of the suspect was available, if the incident was reported to the Metropolitan Police and if a GW student made the report to UPD. Hay said via e-mail Sunday night that the suspect was known to the victim, but he said he was not at liberty to give further detail about the incident other than what was in the release.

A University spokeswoman did not return a request for comment Sunday night.
