Suspect allegedly snatches student’s laptop in Starbucks

A female student reported to University Police that a suspect snatched her MacBook laptop while she was typing on it at the Starbucks in Gelman Library Sunday evening, according to a Crime Alert.

The student chased the suspect out of the back door of the coffee shop, and activated the blue light emergency phone near Madison Hall, according to the alert. The snatch occurred at around 10:20 p.m.

The suspect – described as a black male in his mid-twenties with shoulder-length dread locks – was last seen fleeing westbound between Madison Hall and Duques Hall, according to the alert.

“If someone is attempting to rob you, give them your property, which can be
replaced,” the Crime Alert said. “Struggling or fighting with a subject(s) can lead to physical injury of the victim.”
