GW will welcome D.C. VegFest, an outdoor festival celebrating and advocating vegetarianism, to University Yard Sept. 11.

The event will run from noon to 6 p.m., featuring speakers and cooking demonstrations.

Robert Cheeke, a vegan bodybuilder and Miss District of Columbia USA Mackenzie Green, who went vegan during pageant training, will join other vegan and vegetarian notables as speakers at the festival.

Chefs Lauren Von Der Pool and Tal Ronnen are slotted for vegan cooking demonstrations throughout the day.

Food vendors like Amsterdam Falafel Shop, Java Green, Toscana Grill and others will serve meatless fare to attendees.

University Yard hosted VegFest last year as well, where speakers like Rory Freedman, author of the New York Times bestseller, “Skinny Bitch“, drew a crowd to the center of campus.
