Bozeman brings in top 50 recruiting class

For the second straight season, GW women’s basketball coach Mike Bozeman has brought in an ESPNU HoopGurlz top-50 recruiting class, the GW Athletic Department announced Friday.

The 2010-11 recruiting class is headlined by Chelisa Painter, a six-foot-one forward from Chesapeake, Va. who was ranked the 12th best high school power forward in the ESPNU HoopGurlz Top 100 rankings and was a McDonald’s All-American nominee last season.

Joining Painter as the only other true freshman in the incoming class will be Erica Chandler, a six-foot-four center from Charlotte, N.C. who Bozeman said would allow GW to, “compete with the best front courts in our conference.” Erica Chandler’s brother, Tyson Chandler, is a center for the New Orleans Hornets in the NBA.

Rounding out the three-person class for the Colonials is five-foot-seven guard Kristin Aldridge, a transfer who averaged close to 17 points and six rebounds last season for Neosho County Community College in Missouri last season. Aldridge, a native of Mansfield, Tx., began her college career at the University of Missouri, Kansas City in 2008-09, where she averaged 2.4 points and 1.5 assists per game as a freshman.
