Officials name senior vice president, chief of staff

Baseball
GW’s baseball team (6-8) lost 9-4 to William and Mary at Barcroft Park in Arlington Tuesday. The two teams combined for five errors and freshman starter Luke Mirabella gave up five earned runs in three innings for the loss in his first collegiate start. The Colonials travel to Mount St. Mary’s (1-6) Thursday before returning home for a weekend series against Central Connecticut.

Women’s lacrosse
GW’s women’s lacrosse team (1-6) picked up its first victory of the season Wednesday against Mount St. Mary’s in Emmitsburg, Md. After trailing by two goals in the first half, the Colonials scored eight straight goals to give them a permanent lead. Leading scorer junior Mia Breheny scored three goals to lead GW, which next hosts Towson in its final nonconference home game Saturday at 1 p.m at Mount Vernon Field.

Women’s tennis
The women’s tennis team swept Coppin State 8-0 Tuesday in Baltimore. The Colonials lost just five games in their eight matches, including three 6-0, 6-0 doubles wins. The Colonials next play Clayton State March 16 in Georgia.
