Crime Log

Assault

3/3/09 – 11:04 p.m. – Lisner Auditorium – case closed

A patron of Lisner Auditorium reported that she was assaulted by a man working at an event. The patron, who was not affiliated with the University, said that the man – a contractor – came up to her, pushed her, hit her in the head and then grabbed her camera. The worker told officers he confiscated her camera because no cameras were allowed in the event. The patron declined to file a report with the Metropolitan Police Department. Referred to Department

Burglary

3/6/09 – 1959 E Street – case closed

A male student reported to UPD that his laptop was taken from his room. He said he and his roommates do not normally lock their door. No suspects or witnesses

Harassment

3/5/09 – Off campus – case closed

A GW staff member reported that a former staff member had been calling people and harassing people they used to work with. The individual was barred from campus.

Lewd Act

3/6/09 – 10:30 p.m. – Gelman Library – case closed

A female student told UPD that she saw an unidentified male student masturbating in the library. When UPD arrived, he could not be found. No identifiable subjects

Liquor Law Violation

3/6/09 – 1:35 a.m. – Thurston Hall – case closed

A male student entering the lobby of Thurston Hall presented fake identification to the University Police Department. He had been drinking but did not need further medical attention. Referred to Student Judicial Services

3/6/09 – 11:41 p.m. – West End Apartments – case closed

UPD responded to a noise complaint in the residence hall and found 16 students. The students had been drinking, but none were in need of medical attention. The alcohol was disposed of on the scene. Referred to SJS

3/9/09 – 12:05 a.m. – City Hall – case closed

UPD responded to a noise complaint in City Hall. When they arrived they found 14 students – three of whom were over 21 – and one nonstudent. The unaffiliated student was barred from campus. Referred to SJS

3/9/09 – 1:39 a.m. – Public property on campus – case closed

A UPD officer observed a female student exiting a cab and vomiting. She was transported to GWER for medical attention. Referred to SJS

Receiving Stolen Property

3/3/09 – 2031 F Street – case closed

A Health and Safety inspector found a GW “No Smoking” sign in a room. The item was confiscated. Referred to SJS

Simple Assault

3/9/09 – 3:30 a.m. – Public property on campus – case closed

An officer observed a group of about 25 people standing around a fight outside Thurston Hall. When they arrived, the fight had just ended. Several people involved were identified. Witnesses told officers the fight started when a group of people in a taxi were making inappropriate gestures at a group of people walking on the street. Referred to SJS
