Softball

The Colonials picked up their first wins of the season Tuesday, sweeping UMBC 2-0, 10-7 in a home double-header. Junior Amanda Gabriel threw a five-hit shutout in the first game.

Women’s lacrosse

GW ran their season-opening losing streak to three Wednesday at American, falling by a 12-6 margin. Senior Katherine Simpson and juniors Mia Breheny and Taylor Donohue each scored twice.

Men’s golf

Junior Cole Turner shot a team-best 238 over 54 holes this weekend as the Colonials finished 15th of 16 teams at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate tournament in South Carolina. Turner’s score placed him 45th in the 81-player field.
