Crime Log

Theft

10/19/08 – 9 p.m. – off campus – case closed

A male affiliated with the University returned to his vehicle parked off-campus when he saw two suspects emerging from his car. The individual chased the suspects for two blocks and caught one. He waited for Metropolitan Police Department officers to detain the suspect. A laptop charger, sunglasses and a book had been taken from the vehicle.
Referred to MPD.

Disorderly Conduct

10/20/08 – 6:58 p.m. – Ivory Tower – case closed

A neighborhood resident reported to UPD that a number of paper airplanes thrown from Ivory Tower had landed around their house.
No identifiable suspects.

Threats

10/22/08 – 7 a.m. – University Parking Garage – case closed

UPD responded to GW staff members who said an individual threatened to throw urine on them if they continued to prevent him from sleeping on the first floor of the parking garage. Staff reported that the suspect slept with cups of urine around him. The individual fled before officers arrived.
No identifiable subjects.

Simple Assault

10/24/08 – 1:48 a.m. – Thurston Hall – case closed

A Thurston Hall resident called UPD after a personal argument prompted his roommate to assault him. When officers arrived, the student said he did not want to press charges.
Referred to Student Judicial Services.

Weapons Policy Violation

10/26/08 – 4:10 a.m. – City Hall – case closed

Two students were having a verbal disagreement in City Hall when one called UPD and alleged there was an altercation involving a knife. When questioned, both students’ stories matched up. Officers notified the community director who performed an administrative search and found a knife in the living room.
