No GWorld – No Problem!

Colonials Weekend might be the only three days during the school year when GW students can put their GWorlds to rest. The following restaurants are sure to satisfy students and families alike.

Georgetown: Chopsticks
Location: 1073 Wisconsin Ave., N.W.
Cost: $10-$20 per person

This adorable sushi restaurant is an ideal place for dinner after taking in scenic Georgetown. The menu offers an extensive selection of sushi rolls and sashimi, as well as tempting udon noodle and soup options. Just make sure to leave ample time during peak hours, as service tends to run a bit slowly.

Chinatown: Asian Spice
Location: 717 H St., N.W.
Cost: $15-$30 per entree

Asian Spice’s menu includes items from all over Asia, from Thai curries to fresh sushi to kimchi, a traditional Korean dish made with vegetables and spices. It is not the perfect option for those in search of authentic Asian cuisines, but it does a good job of offering a wide variety. The trendy décor is also bound to impress.

Adams Morgan: Meskerem
Location: 2424 18th St., N.W.
Cost: $10 per entree

Though Adams Morgan is known for its wide variety of delicacies, Meskeren is certainly one of the more unusual stops. This Ethiopian restaurant offers intriguing furniture and a laid-back atmosphere that create a great dining ambiance. The food – spicy, savory and utensil-free – is delicious. Try sharing the sampler platter to get a taste of everything or opt for one of the curries. Also, be sure to snag a window seat; sitting back and watching the Adams Morgan scene go by can be an experience in itself.

U Street: Ben’s Chili Bowl
Location: 1213 U St., N.W.
Cost: Less than $10 dollars per meal

This gem is a District classic and the place to get a true D.C. experience. It has been a staple of Washington culture since Eisenhower was in office and the walls are decorated with pictures of famous visitors enjoying the renowned chili dishes. Whether you are after an indulgent order of chili cheese fries or the more health-conscious vegetarian chili, this quick and casual establishment won’t disappoint.

Dupont Circle: Al Tiramisu
Location: 2014 P St., N.W.
Cost: $15-$25 per entree

If you have been craving Italian food but have not had the chance to get out and investigate new restaurants, bring your Colonials Weekend guests to Al Tiramisu in Dupont. This cozy Italian eatery will fulfill all of your heart’s pasta-related desires and is the ideal place to refuel before or after wandering the neighborhood. Be sure to leave room for dessert – from custard samplers to poached pear, the decadent list of after-dinner options will satisfy any sweet tooth.
