Crime Log

Drug Law Violation

10/7/08 – Potomac House – 1:05 a.m. – case closed

While on patrol, a University Police Department officer smelled marijuana in a room of the residenc e hall. The officer notified the community director and an administrative search was conducted. The residents were not in the room, and about one ounce of marijuana was found along with other drug paraphernalia.
Referred to Student Judicial Services.

10/10/08 – Ivory Tower – 2:20 a.m. – case closed

UPD responded to a report of individuals smoking marijuana in a vehicle the Ivory Tower garage. When the officers arrived, they found two males and one female who admitted to smoking. UPD confiscated marijuana and other drug paraphernalia from the vehicle.

Attempted Theft

10/7/08 – Marvin Center – 12:03 pm – case closed

A GW Bookstore employee called UPD to report that two individuals in the store acted suspiciously and appeared to be stealing. Officers responded and questioned both individuals, who UPD subsequently barred from campus.
Barred from campus.

Simple Assault

10/7/08 – Public property on campus – 2:45 p.m. – case closed

A male student reported that he was walking toward the Foggy Bottom Metro station near 23rd and H streets when an unknown individual punched him from behind. The Metropolitan Police Department was also notified and was unable to locate the suspect.
No identifiable subject.

Liquor Law Violation

10/8/08 – Townhouse Row – 3:47 a.m. – case closed

A student reported to UPD that her friend was dangerously intoxicated. When officers arrived, a female student was unconscious but breathing. EMeRG and D.C. Fire/EMS responded. The student was transported to the GW Hospital.

Theft

10/9/08 – Public property on campus – case closed

An individual secured the front tire of a bicycle to a lamppost and left. When the individual returned, the complainant told UPD the bike was missing except for the front tire.
No suspects or witnesses.

Disorderly Conduct

10/10/08 – Public property on campus – 2:13 a.m. – case closed

An officer approached an individual who was urinating in public. When the officer questioned the man, who was not intoxicated, he said that he “could not wait.”

Weapons Violation

10/10/08 – New Hall – 1 p.m. – case closed

UPD received a report that a community director found several items – including two toy handguns, a toy cap gun and fake plastic rifle bullets – during an administrative search of a room. Officers confiscated all of the items.
