Drug Law Violation

8/31/08 – City Hall – 1:13 a.m. – case closed

An anonymous complainant called the University Police Department to report a suspicious odor coming from a room in the residence hall. Officers responding to the call smelled marijuana, and the room’s five occupants denied smoking or possessing the drug. UPD contacted the community director on duty to search the room, and an officer found a broken marijuana pipe in the courtyard below the room’s window. The subjects denied knowledge of the pipe, which tested positive for marijuana.

Liquor Law Violation

8/31/08 – 1900 block of F Street – 12:12 a.m. – case closed

A UPD officer on patrol observed an intoxicated underage male individual sitting on the steps of the Alumni House adjacent to Thurston Hall. The subject was slumped over, and when officers tried to help him up, he fell backward and vomited on the steps. EMeRG was contacted to transport the student to GW Hospital for further medical attention.

8/31/08 – Thurston Hall – 2:22 a.m. – case closed

UPD officers observed an intoxicated male subject having difficulty swiping his GWorld card to enter the residence hall. Officers performed field sobriety tests, and determined that the student was impaired but not a danger to himself or others.

Public Drunkenness

8/31/08 – Public property on campus – 3:00 a.m. – case closed

A 4-RIDE van driver observed a male subject vomiting in his vehicle, and he drove the subject and other passengers to Woodhull House. EMeRG was contacted and all five passengers were given field sobriety tests. The subject, who was of age, was transported to GW Hospital for further medical attention and barred from campus. Three of the other passengers were GW students.

Robbery

8/31/08 – 2000 block of F Street – 4:15 a.m. – case closed

An employee at the front desk of Potomac House contacted UPD about a male student who entered the building with a bloody nose. The student told officers he was walking into The Dakota when he was punched from behind and his glasses were knocked off. He said the assailants stole his wallet, and he saw four black males run away from him. D.C. Fire/EMS was contacted to treat the complainant at the scene, and he refused to go to the hospital for further treatment. UPD and the Metropolitan Police Department swept the area but could not find the four subjects.

Soliciting without a permit

8/30/08 – Thurston Hall – 1:24 p.m. – case closed

A resident reported to UPD that two male subjects were selling tickets and wristbands in the residence hall for a local nightclub. Officers made contact with the subjects and confiscated their merchandise. One of the subjects was a GW student but not a resident of Thurston, and the other subject was his brother who does not attend GW.

Theft II

8/29/08 – Off campus – time unknown – case closed

A female complainant contacted UPD to report that her wallet was missing. She told officers that she had last seen it during a bus trip from West Virginia to D.C. in which she had left the wallet unattended on her seat. She only noticed that it was missing when the bus reached its destination.
