Former GW women’s basketball players Anna Montañana (’05) and Elisa Aguilar (’00) helped take the Spanish national women’s basketball team to the Olympic quarterfinals last week in Beijing.
Montañana had the seventh-highest scoring average in the games, scoring 14.5 points per game for her country. Aguilar averaged five points per contest and logged more minutes than any Spaniard.
Spain beat the Czech Republic, New Zealand and Mali in pool play before falling to Russia in the quarterfinals.
