Last week the University joined the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education in an effort to continue promoting sustainability on its campuses.

The AASHE will serve as a way to connect campus sustainability directors and professionals throughout the U.S. and Canada. As a member of the AASHE, the entire GW community will have access to online tools and resources supporting and promoting sustainability that include networking, information sharing and professional development.

Joining the AASHE is one of many steps the University has taken recently to increase awareness of and create solutions for sustainability on campus. This past fall, University President Knapp created the Presidential Task Force on Sustainability to develop recommendations to improve the University’s environmental efforts. In June, the task force will submit a report outlining measures the University can take to make its campuses more environmentally efficient.
