$5-$10-$20: An entertainment guide for the cash-strapped college student

If you have $5

Get yourself a sandwich and check out the free jazz jam session in the basement of Phillips Hall (B-120). Every Friday afternoon from noon-2p.m. Faculty members of the jazz department play several jazz standards, after which students or anyone else is welcome to come up, call a tune and play.

If you have $10

Head over to the Corcoran Gallery of Art (500 17th St. N.W.) to see the Ansel Adams photography exhibit. Best known for his innovative and unique landscape photographs of America’s most beautiful natural resources, Adams’ work is highly regarded as some of the best in the world. The student discount at the museum is $10.

If you have $20

Have someone you’re trying to impress? Now’s the time, during Restaurant Week in Washington. Between now and Jan. 20, many of D.C.’s finest restaurants are offering special three-course lunches for only $20 and dinners for $30. For a complete list of participating restaurants, visit www.washington.org/restaurant.
