Where: Smith Center
Television: None
Radio: GWRadio.com

History:
GW leads the all-time series with UMBC 5-0. The two teams last met in January of 1994 at the Smith Center. At the time, the Colonials were ranked 17th in the nation.

Game notes:
The Retrievers lost their top scorer from last season, graduate Matea Pender, who led the team with 12.6 points per game. The Colonials’ leading scorer last year, junior Sarah-Jo Lawrence, averaged 11.6 points per game.
The Colonials are 9-3 in home openers since last facing the Retrievers.

Keys for GW:
Integrating the underclassmen. The Colonials boast three freshmen and five sophomores. The second-year players all hold post positions and will play in different combinations to replace graduated senior Jessica Simmonds.
Outside shooting. Coach Joe McKeown said before the season that it was the team’s biggest struggle last year and that players in addition to junior Kim Beck, the team’s leading three-point shooter, need to convert more from the field.

Watch:

Kenan Cole – GW
The team’s lone senior had 23 points in the Colonials’ 70-63 exhibition game against Lake Truck Lines All-Stars last Friday. The guard/forward averaged 8.2 points per game last season.

Sharri Rohde – UMBC
The captain was a member of the America East Second Team All-Conference last season. She has started every game of her collegiate career.
