Freshman loses Cosmo’s Bachelor of the Year contest

Freshman Cory McCrummen, one of 50 nominees for Cosmopolitan Magazine’s Bachelor of the Year, is taking his loss well.

McCrummen and the 49 other nominees were invited to a party in New York City Tuesday night, when the winner was announced. A panel of magazine editors chose the winner out of six semi-finalists who received the most votes during the online voting Oct. 10 to 12.

“I met the winner, Matt Wood from Colorado, at my photo shoot. He was such a great guy,” McCrummen said Wednesday. “I decided, ‘Hey we should room together in New York.'”

Wood, a graduate from Colorado State University and a consultant for Hewlett-Packard, received a bachelor pad makeover from LG electronics.

Aside from being roommates with the winner, McCrummen said the party in New York introduced him to the modeling world and the opportunities it offers.

“It was really fun, really high society,” he said.

He added that as a freshman he was surprised by the level of support he received, especially from the GW Cheer team, of which he is a member.
