Water polo player arrested Saturday night

A freshman water polo player was arrested Saturday night by Metropolitan Police on felony charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, said Antoinette Murray, a processing technician in the department’s second district.

The student, whose name is being withheld by The Hatchet, was arrested in Thurston Hall and was in jail as of late Sunday nght. He is due in court Monday morning.

The amount of marijuana he posessed required the police to keep him in detention, Murray said.

Scott Reed, the water polo team’s head coach, said he was aware of the situation and will speak to Director of Athletics Jack Kvancz Monday morning to discuss possible disciplinary action.
