Volleyball

The volleyball team dropped three straight games at the Wake Forest Black & Gold Challenge in Winston-Salem, N.C., Sept. 15-16. Friday they fell 3-2 to Wake Forest, followed by 3-0 defeats at the hands of Winthrop and then Davidson on Saturday. The Colonials (7-6) had just 49 kills in their first game, compared to the Demon Deacons’ 80, while Winthrop tallied 65 total points compared to GW’s 29. In the third game, the Wildcats had seven service aces while the Colonials managed one.

Cross Country

The men’s and women’s cross country squads finished seventh and sixth, respectively, at the Salty Seadog Invitational hosted by Navy in Annapolis, Md., Sept. 16. Graduate student Kate Neeper was the women’s top runner with an eighth place finish, her second consecutive top-10. Senior Taylor Leavitt was next for the Colonials, placing 39th.
