WEB UPDATE: Pinnock gets selected by Dallas Mavericks, traded to Lakers

Updated on June 29, 12:45 a.m.

Danilo (J.R.) Pinnock was selected by the Dallas Mavericks with the 58th pick of the 2006 NBA Draft but dealt to the Los Angeles Lakers for a second-round pick in a future draft. The selection marks the first time a GW player has been drafted since Yinka Dare in 1994.

The selection came in the second round, where contracts are not guaranteed.

Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Mike Hall and Omar Williams were passed up after 60 draft picks in the draft.

Temple guard Mardy Collins was selected by the New York Knicks with the 29th pick as the other Atlantic 10 representative. La Salle’s Steven Smith and Charlotte’s Curtis Withers were both passed up. West Virginia’s Mike Gansey was the biggest surprise of the evening, going undrafted.
