Varsity Roundup

Baseball

Freshman Justin Prinstein threw three scoreless innings in his first collegiate victory in a 10-2 trampling of Delaware State at Barcroft Park in Arlington, Va. The Colonials (8-20) got a three-run homerun in the first inning from sophomore Charlie Kruer in addition to a homerun in the in the bottom of the third from senior Tom Shanley. Freshman Jim Duggan, a right-hander, allowed two runs on four hits in three innings in his first collegiate start. The Colonials return to action in a weekend series with Xavier at Barcroft Park in Arlington.

Rowing

The GW women’s rowing team lost to Boston University and the United States Naval Academy on the Charles River in Boston. GW came in last in the first varsity eight boat, the second varsity eight boat and fourth place in the varsity four boat. The team faces Duke, University of North Carolina, Eastern Michigan, Tulsa and Southern Methodist in Raleigh, N.C., on Saturday. The GW Invitational in men’s rowing is Saturday in Washington.

M. Soccer

Jake Ouimet, a GW assistant coach since 1999, accepted the head coaching job at Duquesne. Ouimet was in charge of recruiting and day-to-day operations.
