$5 – $10 – $20: An entertainment guide for the cash-strapped college student

If you have $5

Got a secret? Frank Warren has thousands of them. He’s the curator of the PostSecret project, an artistic endeavor in which he elicited secrets from ordinary citizens all over the world on postcards. Now he’s bound the secrets into a book, “PostSecret: Extraordinary Confessions from Ordinary Lives,” which he’ll be signing at Barnes and Noble in Rockville, Md., at 7:30 Thursday night. To learn more, go to postsecret.blogspot.com.

If you have $10

Those with a sweet tooth can’t do any better than to have a scientist condone their chocaholic habits. Thursday night at the Marian Koshland Museum (6th and E streets NW), Dr. Harold Schmitz, a scientist for candy makers Mars, Inc., will lecture about the scientific benefits of chocolate – with tastings. Tickets are $10.

If you have $20

If enjoying the great outdoors isn’t enough of a cherry blossom celebration for you, local bars’ cherry blossom specials will give you even more of a reason to celebrate the Japanese cultural festival. Morton’s, La Tasca, Zengo, Rock Bottom Brewery, Ten Penh, Cabanas and Firefly offer cherry-infused cocktails, such as Zengo’s “Blushing Geisha Cocktail” featuring vodka, sake and brandied cherry puree.
