Web site still not ready, officials ‘disappointed’

Student Association President Audai Shakour’s administration acknowledged fault in its role in the production of the Colonial Trader Web site at a town hall forum Monday night in the Marvin Center.

The Colonial Trader Web site, a pillar of Shakour’s presidential campaign last year, was officially launched after a semester-long delay two months ago under the domain name www.gwlist.com. The Web site has only been released to a limited number of student organizations and has not been released to the full student body, said SA Vice President for Public Affairs Casey Pond, a sophomore.

Shakour, a senior, is still unsatisfied with the product submitted by SwapSwop, the company contracted to produce the Web site.

In August 2005, Shakour entered into an $11,000 contract with SwapSwop to create the site, which was going to be an online trading portal for students. Despite reported deliberations, Pond said the SA does not plan to take legal steps to reclaim some money used for the Web site.
