College students can never resist free food, which is why the Benjamin Franklin Birthday Celebration at the Smithsonian Museum of American History is not to be missed. Celebrate the inventor and scientist’s accomplishments with special exhibits and free cake on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Or at least, that’s what artist Luis Silva hopes in his exhibit “Lovely Monsters” at G Fine Art. His giant fabric sculptures are quirky and funny, not frightening.
