The Colonial Coach bus service to Dulles International Airport is expanding for winter break by running for six days instead of two and adding one additional shuttle trip per day.

The buses, chartered by U.S. Coachways Inc., transported about 220 students from GW to Dulles Airport on Nov. 22 and 23. The service, sponsored by the Student Association, is unable to provide return trips due to contracts other transportation services have with the airport.

In response to surveys given to students riding the shuttles, the SA decided Colonial Coach will have four buses running from Dec. 15 to Dec. 21. The buses will depart daily at 9 a.m., 12 p.m., 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. from Kogan Plaza, said SA Executive Vice President Morgan Corr.

“Students were overall impressed with the service, gave great feedback on when to run for Winter Break, and were overwhelmingly satisfied,” said Corr, a junior.

Students can still sign up for the service at www.gwcolonialcoach.com or at the SA office in Marvin Center 424. The shuttle will be free, but a $10 deposit, payable on GWorld, is required to reserve a seat.

“We are already taking reservations,” Corr said. “Students are signing (up) quickly, already.”

Plans are already in progress to extend the program before spring break. Although shuttle schedules and availability have yet to be determined, plans call for expanding service to Baltimore/Washington International Airport.
