The special Joint Elections Committee announced Wednesday afternoon that the SA Constitution passed during last weeks election.
According to the sJEC, the referendum passed by a vote of 311 for yes and 236 for no. A total of 547 votes were counted.
The results of the election mean that the new Constitution will take effect in mid-Janurary. Some SA officials, however, are warning that new court cases are not out of the question which could once again put the results of the election in jeapordy.
Early this morning the Student Court ruled in favor of the sJEC and said that the sJEC could certify the results. Read full coverage (HERE)
