Posted Friday, Dec. 2, 10:47 p.m. Although Foggy Bottom is itching for the BB&T Classic matchup with the University of Maryland Monday, the GW men’s basketball team still had a formidable opponent in Boston University Friday night. The Terriers have already played No. 1 Duke and Michigan and came into the Smith Center battle-tested.
The No. 19/22 Colonials shot 50 percent from beyond the arc and forced 19 turnovers en route to a 75-62 victory over the Terriers Friday night.
The Colonials (4-0) got senior Pops Mensah-Bonsu back, but his services were marginalized, as he only managed four points and three rebounds in 21 minutes. Mensah-Bonsu returned after a three-game suspension for violation unspecified NCAA rules.
Sophomore Maureece Rice had a career-high 17 points, three assists and three steals. Senior Mike Hall continued his strong play with a double-double, with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Carl Elliott had 13 points and five steals.
Shaun Wynn led the Terriers (0-5) with 18 points.
The BB&T Classic is on Monday at the MCI Center. The Colonials meet No. 20/23 (USA Today/AP) Maryland no earlier than 9:07 p.m., according to a news release.
