The Northeast was not kind to GW this weekend, as the Colonials tied Rhode Island and lost to Massachusetts. The Rams’ Jeffery Gonsalves scored the only goal of the game in the 71st minute. Juniors Arturo Pedroso and sophomore Abimbola Pedro had two shots each. Sophomore Greg Yahr had three saves in net for GW. Against Massachusetts, sophomore Greg McKay registered two goals to lead GW to a 2-2 tie. The Colonials return home Oct. 28 to face Saint Louis followed by Duquesne Oct. 30.

Swimming

The GW men’s swimming team defeated La Salle but lost to James Madison, while the women’s squad lost to both schools. Senior Maggie Moss and freshman David Zank placed first in their respective events. Moss captured the 200-yard individual relay while Zenk won the 200-yard individual medley. The Colonials’ next meet is with American and Catholic beginning Friday. Catholic will host the event on Friday night while American will host Saturday afternoon’s portion.
