M. Golf

Led by senior Brian Carroll, the GW golf team captured fifth place at the Baylor Invitational at the par-72 Bear Ridge Golf Club near Waco, Texas. The finish extends the squad’s streak of top five finishes to 11 tournaments. The Colonials shot an aggregate score of 887 while the winner, Baylor University, carded 862.

Carroll tied for 19th place with a 221 (74-74-73) while redshirt sophomore Bob Rohr and junior Raman Luthra tied for 27th with 223.

The Colonials next match is Penn’s Big Five Class on Oct. 15 and 16 in Flourtown, Pa.

Earlier this week, the Atlantic 10 named Carroll the performer of the week in men’s golf. The honor is the third bestowed upon him by the A-10 in his career.

M. Water Polo

The men’s water polo team won three of four games at the Claremont Convergence Tournament in Claremont, Calif. The Colonials were victorious against Chapman, Cal Lutheran and La Verne. The lone loss on the West Coast trip was at the hands of Whittier. The victories bring GW’s overall record to 10-11 this season.

Sophomore Chris Whittam had eight saves against Chapman while freshman David Zenk had four goals in the contest. In the won loss against Whittier, Whittam registered nine saves in goal.
