Student orgs can apply for initial allocations

Student organization budgets are due to the Student Association Finance Committee by Friday at 5 p.m. in its Marvin Center 424 office.

“Student organizations should find out about the allocations they receive by late Sunday or early Monday,” Finance Committee Chair Michelle Tanney, a senior, said.

The SA has a budget of more than $500,000 paid for by a $1-per-credit-hour fee shelled out by every student. The money from the fees fund GW student organizations and the SA’s budget. Student organizations that request money from the SA must submit a budget to the Finance Committee. Groups must submit their budgets as both hard copies and electronic submissions. The forms are available on the student organizations Web site, found at http://www.studentorgs.gwu.edu.

The Finance Committee will review each submitted budget and determine an initial allocation amount based on the size of the organization and on previous years’ allocations, Tanney said.

She added, if student organizations are unsatisfied with the money the SA allocates, they can appeal to the Finance Committee for additional funds.
