Sigma Phi Epsilon recognizes local chapter

For the third consecutive year, GW’s Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity has been recognized as an outstanding chapter by its national organization.

Sigma Phi Epsilon returned from its national leadership conference in Nashville, Tenn., last month with the Buchanan Cup, an award given every two years to recognize undergraduate chapters in “excellence in all areas of chapter operations,” said senior David Frenkil, chapter president.

Last year Sigma Phi Epsilon worked with the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority to help raise money for YouthAIDS, an AIDS awareness group. A “Singled Out For a Cause” fundraiser was modeled after the 1990s MTV show “Singled Out.”

Sigma Phi Epsilon members have also organized “SigEp Santa” in the fall to benefit the same AIDS awareness charity. The organization is raising money and collecting goods for U.S. Armed Forces members overseas.
