Extra Stewart show added

Comedian Jon Stewart appears daily on TV, but students and their families have the chance to see him twice when he comes to campus for Colonials Weekend next month.

Stewart will perform twice at the Smith Center Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. The early show was added because of overwhelming demand for the “Daily Show” anchor, said Peter Konwerski, special assistant to the senior vice president of Student and Academic Support Services, in an interview Tuesday night. University officials notified students of the addition in a Wednesday morning blast e-mail.

The Smith Center holds 5,000 people. Tickets cost $45 and can be purchased at the Marvin Center Ticketmaster booth or at http://gwired.gwu.edu/tickets.

Stewart last came to campus in October 2004, when he lambasted hosts of CNN’s “Crossfire” for pandering to political stereotypes. Several months later, CNN executives cancelled the show.
