WEB UPDATE: GW to get double dose of Stewart

Posted Tuesday, Sept. 13, 9:51 p.m. Comedian Jon Stewart appears daily on TV, but students and their families have the chance to see him twice when he comes to campus for Colonials Weekend next month.

Stewart will be performing twice at the Smith Center on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The early show was added because of overwhelming demand for the “Daily Show” anchor, said Peter Konwerski, special assistant to the senior vice president of Student and Academic Support Services. The Smith Center holds approximately 5,000 people.

Stewart last came to campus in October 2004, when he lambasted hosts of CNN’s “Crossfire” for pandering to political stereotypes. Several months later, CNN excecutives cancelled the show, signaling that they lent credence Stewart’s criticisms.
