Police respond to fight over fake gun at Phi Sigma Kappa house

Metropolitan Police were called to the Phi Sigma Kappa house at 601 21st St. Wednesday when an anonymous caller reported that someone was seen walking down the street with a toy hand gun.

GW media relations said several University Police and MPD vehicles were parked outside the house until mid-afternoon. It is unclear if the persons involved with the incident are members of the Greek-letter organization.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., MPD and UPD responded to the scene to find two individuals fighting over the gun, which closely resembled a real pistol. One individual took the gun away from the other person and the toy gun broke.

Members of Phi Sigma Kappa declined to comment about the incident on Wednesday.

UPD has referred the case to Student Judicial Services, which will decide if any disciplinary actions will be taken. Toy guns are banned from campus housing, but the incident took place in and around a private residence.
