Crime Report

Fireworks

8/28 – Ivory Tower – 7:25 p.m. – case closed

UPD received a report that students were shooting fireworks out of their window. The room was identified and an administrative search was conducted. Fireworks were found in the room, as well as a knife and pellets for a pellet gun, which are also banned in residence halls. Six individuals were involved and three were GW students.

Attempted Theft

8/22 – Ross Hall – Noon – case closed

An employee was working in a lab when she noticed a male crouching behind a refrigerator unit next to the door preparing to steal her purse. She confronted the individual and he left. None of her belongings were missing. University Police swept the area but could not find the suspect.

Harassment

8/25 – Academic Center – 9:30 p.m. – open case

An individual reported receiving harassing messages on her voicemail from an unknown individual. Several messages were left over the course of a few days.

Destruction

8/27 – Lisner Hall – 4:00 a.m. – case closed

A UPD officer observed two students carrying a 5-foot tree on the 2000 block of G Street and questioned them. The officer discovered the tree was GW property. The males gave the officer false identification and then refused to give their real licenses or names. The two males were arrested and one tried to run from arrest. Metropolitan Police arrived at the scene. The students were also found intoxicated.

Drug Law Violation

8/27 – The Dakota – 6:55 p.m. – case closed

UPD was notified by CLLC staff about three students who were entering the building carrying large backpacks. Officers found a case of beer, one bottle of alcohol and a pipe that tested positive for marijuana. One individual was not affiliated with the University and was banned from campus.

Liquor Law Violation

8/29 – Ivory Tower – 1:35 a.m. – case closed

UPD found an individual in the lobby who was having difficulty walking. When approached, officers found out he was underage. EMeRG was contacted and he was transported to the emergency room for treatment.

8/27 – The Dakota – 6:55 p.m. – case closed

CLLC staff approached three individuals attempting to sign into the building with large backpacks. The backpacks were searched and the staffer found two cases of beer and three bottles of alcohol. All individuals were underage and UPD disposed of the alcohol.
