Posted Friday, July 8, 7:00 p.m. Following their A-10 championship season, the GW men’s soccer team placed two players on the All-Conference team while the incoming freshman class earned one spot on the All-Rookie team.
Rising seniors Frank Ambrosio and Ben Mortimer were the Colonials’ only two players named to the team. Ambrosio played in 23 games last season, scoring seven goals and registering four assists for a total of 18 points. Mortimer, who also played in 23 games, had five goals in the 2004 campaign.
Incoming freshman Michael Rollings, a forward, was The Washington Post’s fall player of the year last year. He scored 22 goals and notched eight assists to bring his high school career totals to 51 goals and 22 assists.
Anna Handzlik, the goalkeeper for the GW women’s soccer team, was named to the women’s All-Conference squad. Handzlik, a rising senior, had a .815 save percentage last season.
