Posted Wednesday, June 8, 10:41 p.m. With the 900th pick in the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft, the Detroit Tigers selected GW first baseman Ryan Roberson. The pick, which came in the 30th of the 50 rounds, made Roberson the first Colonial drafted this year.
Roberson hit .423 this season with 16 home runs and 52 RBI, earning him a place on the Atlantic 10 All-Conference first team. The first baseman’s 43 career home runs is third best in program history.
Roberson was unavailable for comment late Wednesday night.
