Student Association President-elect Audai Shakour announced his seven nominees for cabinet positions Wednesday. Some nominees may face objection from the Senate, which must approve each cabinet member.
Rules Committee Chairman-elect Chris Rotella, whose group will interview nominees on Thursday, said he will be looking for “qualified candidates.”
Rotella, who ran on the Coalition for Reform, added the committee may block a nominee, “depending on the position and their credentials.”
Shakour selected sophomore Jeff Goodman as vice president of judicial and legislative affairs. Goodman represented Shakour throughout this year’s election’s legal proceedings, which ultimately led to Shakour’s victory over Coalition for Reform presidential nominee Ben Traverse.
The Rules Committee may block Goodman, a student close to the SA said.
Sophomore John Och was nominated for director of undergraduate student policy, graduate student Sailesh Konda was nominated for vice president of graduate student policy and sophomore Maria Bea Querido was nominated for vice president of student activities. Additional vice presidential nominations include junior Meredith Wolff for community affairs, Katia Thomas for academic affairs and freshman Casey Pond for public affairs.
The Senate also elected Heather Williams (ESIA-G) as chair of the Academic Affairs Committee and chose sophomore Daniel Balke (ESIA-U) to chair the Finance Committee.
