Colonials open season 2-2

The GW baseball team dropped the final two games of a three-game series at Georgia Southern University last weekend.

After taking the first contest of the weekend 9-5 on Friday, the Colonials (2-2) dropped a 9-8 decision Saturday and fell 6-3 Sunday. Third baseman Geoff Milsom scored in the first inning then drove in a run to give GW a 2-0 lead in the second.

GSU tied the game at two before first baseman Ryan Roberson’s RBI double gave GW a 3-2 advantage in the top of the third. However, the Eagles scored four runs in the bottom of the inning to take what would become an insurmountable 6-3 lead.

GW will next play Old Dominion University on Tuesday at 3 p.m. and James Madison University Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
