Softball earns first victory of the season

The GW softball team beat North Carolina-Greensboro 2-0 for its first win of the season in the New Triangle Classic at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex in Raleigh, N.C. Freshman pitcher Jen Hrycyna threw a two-hit shutout in the in the win. Earlier on Friday, the Colonials lost to Toledo 5-1.

Gymnastics finishes third

In Raleigh, N.C., the GW gymnastics team finished third at the 2005 Hearts Invitational, registering a season-high 193.475. North Carolina State finished first, Iowa finished second and William and Mary finished fourth.

Beck earns fifth rookie of the week

Freshman Kimberly Beck was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season. Beck averaged 9.5 points in two wins last week and currently leads the A-10 in assists per game.
